Hello, I’m Andrew.

​

I’m a California native shaped by the rugged Northern coastline and the high-altitude beauty of the Sierra Nevada. Living and cooking in Northern California has deeply influenced my philosophy as a chef — grounded in seasonality, guided by intention, and rooted in respect for the land.

​

With over 23 years in the culinary world, including nearly two decades as a professional chef, I’ve developed a style that blends classical technique with California’s vibrant agricultural landscape. My cooking is rustic yet refined, vegetable-forward yet deeply layered — designed to feel indulgent without excess and bold without being overworked.

​

As the founder of The Mindful Chef, I specialize in elevated in-home dining, private chef services, intimate weddings, and curated gatherings throughout Lake Tahoe and the Sierra region. My menus reflect a California Farm-to-Table ethos infused with global influence — Mediterranean, Latin, Asian — always anchored in peak-season ingredients sourced from local farms, fisheries, and purveyors.

Each dish begins with intention. I prioritize whole-ingredient cooking, mindful sourcing, and creative utilization — honoring the full life of an ingredient whenever possible. From carrot tops transformed into vibrant chimichurri to citrus zest layered into sauces and desserts, nothing is an afterthought.

Exceptional dining, to me, is about more than what’s plated. It’s about creating a sense of place and connection — meals that feel immersive, personal, and effortlessly memorable. I strive to design experiences where guests can slow down, gather, and savor food that feels both elevated and deeply nourishing.

Outside the kitchen, I live an active mountain lifestyle that informs how I cook and eat. Sustainability, vitality, and balance are daily practices — shaping menus that celebrate flavor, energy, and thoughtful abundance.

 

The Mindful Chef is more than a business; it’s a reflection of my values. I’m proud to partner with local farmers, ranchers, and artisans who share a commitment to quality and stewardship. Supporting our regional food community is central to everything I do.
